High Myopic Peripapillary Atrophy; Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Features

چکیده
Pathologic myopia is defined as myopic refractive error greater than ‐6.00 diopters (D).[1] Axial myopia progression results in stretching of ocular layers which may be imaged by optical coherence tomography (OCT). These findings consist of dehiscence of retinal layers, retinal cysts, intrachoroidal cavitation, macular holes, posterior retinal detachment and choroidal neovascular membranes.[2] Furthermore, it has been suggested that scleral protrusion temporal to the optic disc in highly myopic eyes could cause excessive tension on the retinal nerve fiber layer which may result in visual field defects.[3] A 72‐year‐old woman was referred to the ophthalmology clinic complaining of low vision in her left eye. Past medical history was unremarkable. Best corrected visual acuity of the left eye was 20/400. Anterior segment examination revealed normal intraocular pressure and mild nuclear cataracts in both eyes. Refractive error (spherical equivalent) in both eyes was ‐10.00D. Fundus examination and fluorescein angiography revealed submacular choroidal neovascular membrane in the left eye with severe bilateral chorioretinal and peripapillary High Myopic Peripapillary Atrophy; Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Features

Peripapillary Intrachoroidal Cavitation and Optic Pit in a Case of High Myopia and Glaucoma
Purpose: To report a case of peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation (choroidal schisis) and optic pit in a case of high myopia and open-angle glaucoma. Case report: A 30-year-old high myopic man was referred to our clinic for presumed peripapillary choroidal tumors. In funduscopy, there were two yellow-orange and slightly elevated peripapillary lesions in both eyes with indistinct margins. A s...
متن کاملBiometric features of peripapillary atrophy beta in eyes with high myopia.
PURPOSE To evaluate peripapillary atrophy β (PPA-β) characteristics in highly myopic eyes, using simultaneous confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (cSLO) and enhanced spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). METHODS The authors retrospectively analyzed 61 highly myopic (≥ -6.0 D) eyes without myopic retinopathy. cSLO fundus images were used to measure the distances from the fo...
متن کاملMulti-modality imaging findings of huge intrachoroidal cavitation and myopic peripapillary sinkhole
BACKGROUND Peripapillary intrachoroidal cavitation was described as the presence of an asymptomatic, well-circumscribed, yellow-orange, peripapillary lesion at the inferior border of the myopic conus in eyes with high myopia. CASE PRESENTATION A 66-year-old myopic Chinese man was enrolled and his multi-color imaging examination showed a well-circumscribed, caesious, peripapillary lesion coale...
متن کاملClinical features of superficial and deep peripapillary microvascular density in healthy myopic eyes
PURPOSE To evaluate the clinical features of peripapillary microvasculature in myopic eyes and investigate the association between the superficial and deep peripapillary microvascular density and the myopic optic disc characteristics. MATERIALS AND METHODS This cross-sectional study included one hundred and fifty healthy myopic eyes with β-peripapillary atrophy (β-PPA). Ovality index, degree ...
متن کاملSub-classification of myopic glaucomatous eyes according to optic disc and peripapillary features
PURPOSE To investigate the sub-classification of myopic glaucomatous eyes by optic disc and peripapillary features. METHODS Optic disc tilt and torsion were determined from retinal nerve fiber layer photographs. Based on the location of the Bruch's membrane (BM) opening within the β-zone of the peripapillary atrophy (PPA) area, the widths of β-zone PPA (PPA1W), PPA+BM (PPA2W), and PPA-BM (PPA...
